A marketing and design firm with the proven ability to execute creative promotions and generate results…
“Barb, quite frankly, is exhausting with the amount of creativity that she brings to help us stay at the forefront of a very competitive industry. She’s constantly bringing new, fresh ideas and is genuinely interested in making sure that we’re getting a return out of every marketing dollar we spend. I’m continuously amazed by all the great ideas she has and her enthusiasm around helping us market the Spa. We’re currently implementing her recent suggestions for improving our online gift certificate sales and can’t wait to start testing and seeing the results!”

A Little “Creative” History
It all started when I was 15… I’d taken a print making class because I couldn’t find anything else that sounded more interesting. I didn’t consider myself all that creative at the time so I was quite surprised when I’d created my first original woodblock print. WOW! I did that. I got an A+ and a special mention in class from the teacher. Confirmation that I was indeed creative.
It would be another 15 years before I actually decided to launch my creative business.
Life’s twists and turns took me to Durango’s Ft. Lewis College where I received my BA in Business Administration and then went on to start my career in the hospitality industry.
Working my way up the ladder from Reservationist for a property management company in Crested Butte, Colorado to Sales and Marketing Director of a full-service hotel in Tucson, Arizona and finally to General Manager of two hotel properties in the Denver area was an invaluable experience for me. I learned how to run a business from “the beginning” so-to-speak. An experience that prepared me well for running my own businesses.
While the hospitality industry taught me much, it was very stressful. I was also yearning to express that creativity I’d discovered as a teen. So in 1991 I decided it was time for a change. That’s when I decided to go back to my love for creating and went back to school to learn graphic design. Once my education was completed, I made the leap into graphic design freelancing.
My first design gig was for a ski resort in Brian Head, Utah. It was a full-color brochure—a big deal in those days when printing in full-color was quite expensive. I remember the call from my client expressing how happy they were with the finished product and I was hooked!
As time progressed, I started adding my extensive marketing knowledge to my design work and focused on creative that generated “oohs and ahhs” but, more importantly, resulted in leads and increased revenues.
I’ve built U Creative Group on the promise that we provide marketing results at a fair price and I’m super proud to say that the majority of our clients have been with us for well over 8 years.
Over the years we’ve helped a consumer goods client grow their sales by 12 – 18% annually for 5 years in a row, created a campaign that has helped the #1 Re/Max Real Estate Team in Colorado stay on top of their game in spite of the ailing home sales, and helped a home improvement business survive while their competitors have fallen prey to declining business in their industry, just to name a few.
Our portfolio includes logo/identity design, website design and development, numerous advertisements for print media such as People Magazine, Sunset, Cooking Light, Everyday Food, Martha Stewart Living and more. Past and present clients include General Mills, Financial Planning Association, Investment Management Consultants Association, National Academy of Neuropsychology, Tupper’s Team Re/Max Alliance (the #1 Re/Max Real Estate Team in Colorado), TallGrass Aveda Spa and Salon (voted best Spa in Colorado by 5280 magazine on numerous occasions), Blue Sky Plumbing and Heating, Ventana Custom Ironworks, Berlin Flooring, Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association, Aquatic Physical Therapy Association, Marriage & Family Health Center, Colorado State University and many more.
I’m now Chief Creative Officer here at U Creative Group and I have the pleasure of working with many talented and creative individuals in our efforts to provide our customers with exceptional results from their marketing promotions. We employ a “virtual agency” model that allows us to match the right talent with the right clients, saving on overhead so that we can pass these savings on to you.
